The original Lemsteraak design was drawn in 1876 in Lemmer, Holland and was intended as a herring fisher although because of their speed under sail they were mainly used to transport the fish around Northern Europe.
In the early 1900's they began converting them to pleasure craft and subsequently building them for that purpose, unusually for a Dutch barge the Lemsteraak has a long shallow keel allowing her to carry considerable sail. This vessel is an excellently presented historic Dutch Gouda Tjalk currently moored in a peaceful location and looks great for cruising here, or on the continent. Alternatively she could be used as a houseboat with her current mooring possibly available by separate negotiation
She seems to have been well maintained and cared for by her current owners, who have now moved ashore. A recent survey was completed less than two years ago

This historic barge offers delightful living accommodation with two separate cabins, saloon, and galley. There is a storage area at the bow and the large engine room at the stern that can be used for storing wood/coal for the solid fuel stove.
Heating is via a cooking range - a fore-runner to the Aga, which keeps the whole boat nice and warm. Hot water is provided by a calorifier.
The main cabin has a full-sized double bed with ample storage space. The second cabin currently also has a double but could be changed to become an ideal child's bedroom.
Originally commissioned as an Inland... read more
This sizeable barge offers the opportunity to create a wonderful family home. With 3 cabins, the accommodation is ample. The saloon, galley, and bathroom have already been modernised, with the remainder of the boat perfectly habitable, but would benefit from some TLC.
The vessel was last out of the water in 2018, when she was reblacked and a hull survey carried out. The survey reported no significant deterioration.
The mooring at Platt's Eyot is fully transferable at a cost 5%, to be negotiated between the buyer and the seller. Current mooring fees are £550 per month, but are likely to... read more
