NAUTILUS Mumby 48 Aluminium Performance Sailing Catamaran.
Three double cabins plus one single. Newly equipped for world cruising.
Off grid systems for extended sailing.
Hull, engines, rigging, spars, sails, completed and launched 2015. Internals completed 2022 and 2023 with all new equipment from hull up (wiring, electronics, linings, galley, toilets/shower, deck upgrades, heating, rudder upgrades, water maker, painted, antifouled). This equipment is generally covered by a two-year warranty.
NAUTILUS is a fast aluminium performance cruising catamaran. She is 100% ready to cruise the world, but needs some completion internally such as shelves and some internal linings. She was fitted out with the lightest materials we could source. And where lining materials were not needed, the hull/insulation was left bare which saves weight. A critical component of fast cruising Cats is not to overload them.
The interior is insulated with 1 - 2" spray foam and lined with 6mm Garnica ultralight ply strips on the ceilings and 9mm on the hull sides. There are various parts of the foam-covered hull needing completed - but nothing that detracts with boat operation.
She also requires new dagger boards. I have a quote of £5,000 each for new boards to be made by a marine aluminium fabricator. In my experience she can sail well, even reasonably upwind, without the boards. And, of course, downwind dagger boards are not needed at all.
NAUTILUS has been fitted out with ocean sailing in mind. She is fast and can outrun storms, thus she is safe. She is immensely strongly built and very stiff. She is not perfect in terms of finish. And has a few minor dents and scratches. If you do dent or damage the hulls you can simply cut out the offending piece and weld in a new plate. That is the beauty of aluminium. Plus, being non corrosive, the hulls are very low maintainance.
NAUTILUS is not a harbour gin palace. If you want a glossy, white, polished Yacht please look elsewhere.
About me: I am a highly experienced professional Yacht/Tall ship skipper with 40 years sailing experience. Many oceans crossed and tens of thousands of miles under my belt. NAUTILUS is the third large Cat I have owned. And now I am thinking about downsizing. Perhaps to a Dragonfly trimaran.
NAUTILUS and I are currently cruising western Europe. We are now in France as of July 2023 and will depart for the Azores in August. Then, most likely, sail to Denmark for next spring with a cruise of Norway Planned for 2024 unless sold.
If you think this is the boat for you then please do get in touch. I will very happily share with you all aspects of NAUTILUS. The good and the bad (not much) - and will endevour to give you a comprehensive hand over when the time comes - this is a unique vessel, admired everywhere she goes. The right owner will be able to step onboard and sail the oceans.
For sale at a realisitic price. A great saving on building a new one.
Please contact me by email. If I do not reply in a day or two it means I am offshore and your patience is appreciated.
