Description

The lightship Fladen, built in 1892 at Kockums shipyard in Malmö, is one of the few remaining Swedish lightships – a piece of Swedish maritime history. For several decades, she served the Swedish Maritime Administration, including the Fladen Bank and Grisbådarna. During World War II, she was used as a base for pilotage operations in northern Bohuslän. In 1967, she was decommissioned and transferred to private ownership.

In 2011, an ambitious total renovation began, resulting in a top-class vessel with consistently high-quality materials and modern technology.

Through the main entrance on the aft deck, one is met by a spacious and fully equipped kitchen with dining space for 8–10 people. Here, all necessary equipment for both everyday cooking and larger dinners is available. From the kitchen, there is direct access to both the salon below the main deck and further passage towards the foredeck.

Below the main deck is a generous salon, currently furnished as a dining room for approximately 40 people, but convertible for other functions. Aft, you'll find the spacious captain's cabin with an accompanying toilet and shower. Down one flight of stairs are four guest cabins, a laundry room, and engine and technical rooms.

The wheelhouse is accessible directly from the deck. From here, 20 steps lead up through the lighthouse tower to the lantern room – a place with unparalleled views no matter where the vessel is located.

Fladen can be inspected in Stockholm, after agreement with Shiprsforsale.
