Description

Classic wooden Folkboat Amhran Na Gaoithe (Song of the Wind) built in Germany in 1966 restored over a number of years. Original build mahogany carvel planks on oak frames. Rebuilt from the Keel up. Replacements and refurbished to a high standard works too numerous to list . Full survey carried out this year 2025.

Accommodation

Classic Folkboat design Four berths, two settee style berths and one triangulated forward double berth. Provision for a double burner stove in the galley opposit the chart table to starbord.

Construction

Classic wooden Folkboat. Carvel mahogany planks on laminated/ steamed frames and ribs fastened with bronze and stainless steel screws and copper nails and roves.
The Iron keel is secured with new Stainless Steel keel bolts fitted in 2023 through New Iroko Floors.
New Garbords in Iroko fitted in 2023 seams calked and sealed.
Deck is sheathed fibre glass, new laminated beams to the coach roof and new mahogany cockpit combings new cockpit lockers and sole boards.
Hand built mast and boom by Collars in the UK. stepped off the keel. Mounted on an oak/ teak mast step.

Equipment

the boat is equipped with two bronze winches on the coach roof and two bronze winches mounted onto the cockpit combing she has a boat hook and an assortment of fenders and mooring warps.

Navigation Equipment

The boat is fitted with a new plastimo bulkhead compass.

Sails & Spars

Good set of sails including a recent main and a newly fitted roler furler on the Gib. There is also a collection of assorted sails and spinnakers

Safety Equipment

Safety equipment consist of a plastimo horse shoe float, a throw bag and tie point in the cockpit for tethering.
