Description

62' of Bliss is an ex-hire boat built in Bromsgrove and is not a project for the faint hearted, requiring as it does much interior work. The hull however has been over-plated to restore thickness following survey report in 2022. The engine will run but requires a full service.

Both the plumbing and the wiring will need to be reinstalled dependant on the new cabin design. The front left side window is broken and will require a new pane. The wiring in the engine room does not conform to current BSS standards and this will also have to be addressed. The boat requires new batteries and also new battery trays.

The rear engine room is in poor condition, some work will be required, but it is difficult to fully asses the extent of this without first removing the engine. The interior of the boat has also suffered oxidisation throughout the cabin area, needle gunning and the application of rust treatment could rectify this. The boat also needs new rear deck flooring.

The boat is moored at Streethay Wharf on the Coventry canal.

Steel construction, 10, 6, 4, semi-trad design.

In November 2022 the boat was craned out of the water and fully shot blasted to remove all previous coatings from base plate and sides. Following a full hull survey, all repair recommendations were carried out. This involved over plating to hull sides from chine up to above waterline to "D" bar, this was carried out from the turn of the bow back to the rear stem post. Restoring sacrificial chine following over plating. Plating and welding around rear stem post. Re plating weed hatch fitting new baffle plate. Re-blacking hull side plates and base plate in twin pack blacking and application of sacrificial anodes to bow and stern and possibly side plates to offer full anode protection.
