No Name is a Succes Kruiser and was built in the renowned Markensee Shipyard in Holland in 1981. The first owner specified many extra features including extra head room, full height shower and three doors to the main saloon, one to the rear deck as well as one to both port and starboard.
The quality of build is excellent and the finish of the steelwork is of a very high standard. The hull is finished in dark blue and the superstructure was repainted in 2008 in Epifanes 3125 white.
I purchased No Name in September 2007 from De Valk Yacht Brokers in The Netherlands. The boat had been owned by one family from new and considerable money had been spent to maintain her to a high standard. In 2001 major updating was done in Holland whilst it was owned by the son (or son in law) of the original owner. The engine bay was totally stripped out and repainted, a reconditioned 1990 Fiat Aifo engine was fitted along with a new 200 litre Vetus fuel tank and 2 x 250 fresh water tanks. At this time new fuel lines were fitted as well as new lighting throughout the boat and a new Eberspacher blown air central heating system was installed. All of the windows throughout the boat were replaced with aluminium high quality units with laminated tinted glass. A new made to measure spray hood was also fitted at this time, this can be also used as a Biminis cover in hot weather. The total cost of this work was 35000 euros.
From 2001 to 2007 the boat was used very little and was left on a private mooring in Amsterdam although new curtains throughout the boat were fitted in 2005.
When I purchased the boat in 2007 whilst it was in very good condition, it needed some updating. De Valk’s workshop fitted a new 55 litre hot water calorifier with three stage electrical immersion heater, a new pressurised water pump, replaced most of the flexible water pipes and refurbished and repacked the stern gland. The anchor locker required some refurbishment and so a new drain fitting was installed and the locker was repainted inside.
Other works at De Valk’s include –
The underside of the hull was checked stripped and repainted. This was done with Sikkens two pack paint. This work was done inside in their heated paint shop.
All anodes were replaced and extra ones fitted.
The propeller was refurbished and reset.
A totally new Vetus hydraulic steering system was installed including new pumps to upper and lower positions, new ram and new pipe work.
The rear cabin was totally stripped out back to the hull and repainted with a Sikkens two pack paint system.
The insulation was replaced with modern interlocking panels.
All the windows in the rear cabin, shower and wardrobe were removed and the superstructure was repainted in two pack paint both inside and outside.
The rear cabin was totally refitted in a style to match the rest of the boat. This work included new cabinets and a full size double bed. New carpets were also fitted as well a new interlocking ceiling panels and LED reading lights.
The shower was updated and a new Jabasco electric toilet was installed along with a new ceramic wash basin. and new taps.
A new Vetue 110 litre black water tank with pump out facility was fitted but has never been used. A new black water transfer valve was also installed, this sends the waste into the river or to the black water tank.
The gas locker was relocated to under the gas cooker and a new gas safety certificate was issued.
A new VDO rev counter and sender were fitted.
An automatic fire extinguisher was fitted in the engine compartment.
The propeller was removed and reset by a specialist company in Holland
The total cost of this work was £21000 including VAT, receipts and photographs are available.
During 2008 the following work has been carried out.
The bow thruster was refurbished and the motor rewound.
The two 140 amp hour 24 volt batteries were replaced.
The foreward bilges were stripped back to bare metal, treated with rust repellent and repainted.
Total cost of this work £1700.
The superstructure was repainted in 2008 using Epifanes Mono Eurofane paint.
Paint and materials cost £640
During 2009 the following work was carried out.
The galley was refurbished and the worktop replaced with very high quality Mia 40mm.
Two square 316 marine quality stainless steel sinks were installed along with a centrally mounted Frankie mixer tap.
A new 316 Stainless Steel four burner gas hob was fitted. This unit has automatic ignition system powered from the boats domestic 12 volt system.
A new Bosch microwave oven with halogen grill was installed within the locker behind the hob.
The cupboards were refurbished and revarnished.
All the plumbing, supply and waste were replaced.
This work has updated the galley but without loosing the character of the boat.
A galvanic isolator was installed and all of the 230 volt wiring was replaced and many extra power points were installed through the boat along with a new RCD protected consumer unit.
The flooring throughout the boat has been replaced with a very high quality non laminate chamfered edge covering. New hatches have been made to the engine room and other bilge areas.
A new Vetus grey water tank was installed along with a new whale gulper pump.
The “L” shaped settee in the saloon has new very high quality upholstery in a mid blue heavy duty cloth.
A LCD TV with DVD has been installed with satellite receiver and dish. This system will recieve TV programms from any satellite in Europe and so UK Freesat channels work very well. This system will work from mains shore power, the inverter or 12 volts.
A new Victron 30 amp top of the range 12 volt battery charger has been fitted as well as some new LCD lights in the saloon for mood lighting.
The total cost for the work in 2009 was £7700.
To sum up No Name is in fantastic order having had over thirty thousand pounds spent on her in the last two years. The reason for this vast expenditure is not that No Name needed much work but I am a bit of a fanatic and I like things perfect, as she is now. She is ready for long distance cruising, is totally reliable and everything works as it should. The boat was sailed from the De Valk boat yard in Loostrecht near Amsterdam to Sancerre without any problems at all, she is very easy to sail, very manoverable and will turn on a sixpence.
The saloon is much larger than most boats of this size and total length of the galley and saloon is almost twenty feet or over six metres. This boat is very comfortable in both the summer and winter, I use it as a very comfortable "country cottage" as well as for touring this fantastic part of France.
I am selling "No Name" only because she has given me and my family a lot of pleasure in the last three years, so much so, that I have ordered a new larger boat as I plan to live on it.
"No Name" is located in St Satur in central France near to Sancerre. The mooring is superb with all facilities and wonderful views. The mooring fees are only 700 euros a year in this secure and manned port. St Satur is 300 miles from Calais and this journey takes five hours by car.

Le bateau avait appartenu a une famille avec fonds des nouveaux et considérables qui été dépensés pour maintenir le bateaux à un niveau élevé. En 2001de importantes mises à jour ont ou lebeau ete faites par le fils de la propriétaire d'origine. Le compartiment moteur a été totalement dépouillé et repeint, un moteur Fiat 1990 reconditionnés Aifo a éte équipé avec un nouveau programme de 200 réservoirs Vetus litres et 2 x 250 réservoirs d'eau douce. À ce moment de nouvelles conduites de carburant ont été montées ainsi que dans tout le bateau et aussi un le nouvel eclairage. Eberspacher nouveau chauffage central à systeme air soufflé système a été installé. Toutes les fenêtres dans tout le bateau ont été remplacées par des unités d'aluminium de haute qualité avec du verre teinté feuilleté. Un nouvelle capot faite sur mesure a également été acheté à ce moment qui peut être aussi utilisé comme une couverture Biminis. Le coût total de ces travaux a éte de 35000 euros.
De 2001 à 2007, le bateau a été très peu utilisé et a été laissé sur un embarcadère privé à Amsterdam, bien que de nouveaux rideaux dans tout le bateau aient été installes en 2005.
Quand j'ai acheté le bateau en 2007, alors qu'il était en très bon état, il avait besoin de mise à jour. L’ atelier De Valk a équipé d'un nouveau 55 litres ballon a'eau chaude avec trois thermoplongeurs stade électriques, une nouvelle pompe à eau pressurisée, et a remplacé la plupart des conduites d'eau flexibles et remis à neuf et remballé les presse-étoupes. Le casier d'ancre a euquelques rénovations nécessaires et donc un ajustement nouveau drain a été installé et le casier a été repeint à l'intérieur.
D'autres travaux à De Valk incluent --
La face inférieure de la coque a été vérifiée dépouillé et repeinte. Cela s'est fait avec deux peintures pack de Sikkens.
Ce travail a été fait à l'intérieur dans leur atelier de peinture chauffée.
Toutes les anodes remplacées et d’autres en plus montées.
L'hélice a été rénové et remis à zéro.
Un tout nouveau Vetus système de direction hydraulique a été installé, y compris de nouvelles pompes à travailler supérieurs et inférieurs, la RAM et de nouvelles conduites.
La cabine arrière a été totalement dépouillée à l'arrière de la coque et repeint avec un système à deux peintures pack.
L'isolation a été remplacée par des panneaux modernes d’enclenchement.
Toutes les fenêtres de la cabine arrière, douche et armoire ont été supprimées et la superstructure a été repein avec deux paquets de peinture à l'intérieur et l'extérieur.
La cabine arrière a été totalement réaménagé dans un style en fonction du reste du bateau. Ce travail inclu de nouvelles armoires et un lit double. Les tapis neufs ant ete également équipés ainsi qu'un verrouillage de nouveaux panneaux de plafond et les lampes de lecture à LED.
La douche a été modernisée et un nouveau Jabasco WC électrique a été installé avec un nouveau lavabo en céramique.
Un nouveau réservoir d'eau 110 noir avec pompe Out a été aménagé et n'a jamais été utilisé. Une black vanne de transfert d'eau a également été installée, ce qui envoie les déchets dans la rivière ou au réservoir d'eau noire.
Le casier de gaz a été remplacé en vertu de la cuisinière à gaz et un nouveau certificat de sécurité de gaz a été délivré.
Un extincteur automatique d'incendie avait été installé dans le compartiment moteur.
Un nouveau compte-tours VDO et l'expéditeur ont été installés
Le coût total de ce travail a éte de 30,000 euros y compris la TVA, les recus et les photos sont disponibles.
Durant l'année 2008 les travaux suivants ont été effectués.
Le propulseur d'étrave a été rénové et le rebobinage du moteur.
Les deux passages de 140 ampères-heure batteries 24 volts ont été remplacés.
Les fonds de cale ont été ramenés sur le métal nu, traité avec de l’anti rouille et repeints.
Coût total de ces travaux 3000 euros.
La superstructure a été repeint en 2008 à l'aide de peinture Eurofane Epifanes Mono.
Peinture et matériaux coût 1000 euros
Durant l'année 2009 les travaux suivants ont été fait.
La cusine a été rénové et remplacé par le plan de travail de très haute qualité Mia 40mm.
Deux carrés 316 puits de qualité marine en acier inoxydable ont été installés le long d'un mélangeur Frankie central monté robinet.
Un nouvel acier inoxydable 316 quatre plaques chauffantes au gaz avait été ajustée. Cet appareil est doté du système d'allumage automatique alimenté par le système de bateaux nationaux 12 volts.
Un nouveau Bosch four micro-ondes avec grill halogène a été installée dans l'armoire derrière la table de cuisson.
Les armoires ont été rénovés et revernir.
Toute la plomberie, l'approvisionnement et les déchets ont été remplacés.
Ce travail a mis à jour la galère, mais sans perdre le caractère de l'embarcation.
Un isolateur galvanique a été installé et tous les câbles 230 volts a été remplacé et de nombreux points d'alimentation d'appoint ont été installés à travers le bateau le long d'une nouvelle unité du RCD protégés des consommateurs.
Un nouveau Victron 30 l'ampli de la gamme de chargeur de batterie 12 volts a été installé ainsi que quelques nouvelles lumières LCD dans le salon pour un éclairage d'ambiance.
Coût total de ces travaux 2009 a éte de10000 euros.
En résumé, “No Name” dans une condition fantastique ayant eu plus de 43,000 euros depenses au cours des deux dernières années. Elle est prête pour la grande croisière et est totalement fiable et tout fonctionne comme il faut.
Le salon est beaucoup plus grande que la plupart des bateaux de cette taille et la longueur totale de la cuisine et du salon est près de vingt pieds ou plus de six mètres. Ce bateau est très confortable ete comme hiver.
